The South Beauregard Lady Knights have clinched a spot in the Class 2A state championship game.
Monday night in Monroe, #2 South Beauregard defeated #6 St. Thomas Aquinas 65-58 in the semi-finals of the Ladies' Top 28 state basketball tournament. The win had to be especially sweet for the Lady Knights who were knocked out of the playoffs last year by St. Thomas Aquinas.
#2 South Beauregard will face #1 John Curtis for the Class 2A state championship on Friday, March 6 at 6pm.
South Beauregard and St. Thomas Aquinas were locked in a 26-26 tie at halftime, but the Lady K's pulled ahead for good in the third period.
The Lady K's got 63 of their 65 points from three players. Stephanie Barrow led South Beauregard with 32, Jenna Diakos finished with 21, and Jenna Lee added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
