Lady Saints do it again!

Friday afternoon the Saint Louis Lady Saints wrapped up their season with a second straight Division III soccer state championship. Saint Louis defeated Sacred Heart 4-0 at Independence Stadium in Shreveport.

Last year the Lady Saints also defeated Sacred Heart in the state championship game 2-1.

"It was amazing when the final whistle blew and the scoreboard read 4-0," Lady Saints head coach Duncan McDonald said. "It didn't hit me at first. It took a while to sink in, and now that it has, it feels a lot more satisfying this year."

Saint Louis scored three goals during a five minute span midway through the first half to take complete control of the game.

Most of the goals were not scored by the Lady Saints' usual suspects. Senior Maddy Landry scored a goal and had an assist and was named the Champinship game MVP. However, the rest of the Saint Louis goals were scored by freshmen.

Kelsey Ellender, Amber Doiron and Jodi Chatters each found the back of the net letting everybody know that the future looks bright for the Saint Louis Lady Saints soccer program.

"Some of the girls that scored have been role players all year that would come in and give our starters a rest," McDonald said. "They came through big time! Obviously they were listening because they knew where to be, they knew where to run, and they knew how to finish a ball."
